The Interlopers is a story of how greed and conflict can consume a person, in this case, two families over generations. The members of the Znaeym and von Gradwitz clans have feuding over a dispute regarding a useless piece of land. As in most conflicts, each party feels that the property is rightfully his. Then, one dark and stormy day, the feud comes to a life-altering peak as both George Znaeym and Ulrich von Gradwitz hunt one another down like wild prey. But suddenly, an enormous tree behind the two hunters is struck by lightning, causing it to fall upon them with destructive and devastating force. As the two sworn enemies lay in excruciating pain, they come to realize a simple fact; the feud between the families has destroyed an entire community. They agree to become the first of their respective families to unite in order to settle the dispute. As the new friends exchange apologies, they notice figures approaching in the foreground; a pack of ferocious wolves is descending upon them!

What is your take on the matter pertaining to how two sworn enemies could became so friendly towards one another only after a matter of moments? Do you believe it was a ploy to essentialy screw the other one over? Perhaps it was simply a rational decision considering both men had a tree across their backs.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the apologies were sincere. The two men saw how the feud destroyed the entire community. They wanted to end the chaos.
